Here’s to the newly renovated Jean Ribault Senior High School! Ribault is notable for being the first high school funded by the half-penny sales tax approved by Duval County voters in 2020. During a ribbon-cutting ceremony in August 2025, Principal Gregory Bostic remarked that the $120 million campus marks the beginning of a new chapter for Ribault, according to JaxToday.org.
This summer, all alumni from Ribault Senior High School gathered for the 2026 II Come Together Day event on June 13th.
I truly enjoyed reconnecting with everyone at the Ribault Come Together Day Alumni event this summer, but when I saw my favorite English teacher of all time, Mrs./Ms. Brenda Thomas (featured in the picture above on the right), my whole world paused for a moment. I hadn’t seen her since my senior year at Ribault, and this gathering was a day I will never forget. So many memories came flooding back, and the nostalgia was overwhelming!
I met many proud alumni that hot summer afternoon, representing graduating classes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and beyond. I met Mr. Adrian the day before the event in line to purchase our shirts! He boldly expressed how he came to represent the wonderful class of 1987!
I was on my way out the door before I put on my sunglasses. However, I was drenched in sweat after 5 minutes being outside! 😂
